About:
Blaine Washington is a postbaccalaureate research assistant for an
ongoing adolescent anorexia nervosa study and also serves as the
Primary Coordinator for clinical services in the Eating Disorders
Program. Previously, Blaine earned her B.A. at The Ohio State
University. She first became involved in scientific research while
attending OSU, where she served as an undergraduate research trainee at
the OSU Wexner Institute of Research, Children's Hospital of
Columbus. Under the supervision of distinguished research
scientist Dr. Natarajan Muthusamy, Blaine's work focused primarily on
immunology and genetics. At present, she is the research assistant for
the Treatment Study for Adolescent Anorexia Nervosa. Her research
interests include: family based treatment for eating disorders,
cultural dynamics in treatment, variables that influence the
development of anorexia nervosa, and neuropsychological and
psychodynamic approaches to treatment. Ms. Washington plans to
pursue graduate-level studies within clinical psychology in 2009.
