Education

The Department of Psychiatry of the University of Chicago Medical Center provides general and/or specialized training to medical and mental health professionals in a number of disciplines:

• Medical students at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine receive instruction from Department faculty throughout their four years of undergraduate medical education
• The Department offers RRC-accredited residency training programs in General Psychiatry (four years) and Child Psychiatry (two years)
• Training is available for psychologists seeking pre-doctoral externships (in general behavioral medicine, psycho-oncology, pain, substance abuse, and eating disorders); internship positions (in behavioral medicine, child psychology, and neuropsychology); and post-doctoral fellowships in neuropsychology (adult and child)

In addition, Department faculty teach in courses in the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division (University undergraduates) and the School of Social Services Administration, and many serve as dissertation committee members for doctoral students.

We do not offer observerships for any trainees without malpractice coverage.
